Three phones showing the Food Calculator food entry form, a food's score and macro breakdown, and a barcode scan of a jar

Food Calculator turns nutrition labels into one easy number. We built food search, barcode scanning, and a daily log. Then we moved the app to a cross-platform codebase so iOS and Android can be updated together.

The problem

What they needed

Reading a nutrition label means weighing calories, fat, carbs, protein, and fiber all at once. For someone who is trying to eat better, that is a lot to work out while standing in a grocery aisle.

The app needed to give a quick answer first, and the detail only for people who want it.

What we built

How the app works

The app turns a food's nutrition facts into a single score. People can search for a food, scan its barcode, or enter their own. The score shows first. Below it, a macro breakdown and a full nutrition panel are there for anyone who wants more. Foods can be added to a daily log.

The app started on iOS only. We migrated it to a cross-platform framework, so it now runs on both iOS and Android from one codebase, and updates reach both at the same time.
